The 80i Fold Flat Treadmill is a funny little treadmill.  It remains a bit of a mystery to us and its the treadmill that we keep coming back to year after year.  It is not a particularly sexy treadmill, it does not have super sturdy upper handlebars and the upper display programs are a little basic and sometime frustrating to use for anything other than a “manual” program.  Yet we keep selling it.   Part of the problem with its overall feel is that there are many pivot points in the uprights which cause it to be less stable than most other treadmills we tested.  It does not make it less durable; it just gives a feeling like it is not quite as sturdy.  So why do we still have success with it?  For starters, it is one of the least serviced treadmills we carry instore.  It has twice been named Consumer Reports “recommended buy” and received various other awards along the way.  After testing out all the other treadmill brands, most of which we have never set foot on before, we came to one big conclusion about the 80i.

It has one of the best feeling suspensions we have ever tried.  The only way to describe it is that is absorbs your impact but does not bounce or spring back.  Now if you watch the video, the treadmill certainly looks like it bounces a bit (when you stick Big Mike on it at 298lbs) but it does not feel that way.  Almost as if the 80i Fold Flat Treadmill simply “deadens” the impact.  It really has a nice all around feel.  The next part about the 80 we like is that it folds up like a traditional treadmill and folds down flat to the floor.  No other treadmill can do that and achieve up to 12mph speed.  So really if all someone cares about is a good feeling, reliable treadmill that can fold up and down, well there you go.  One of the biggest surprises of the entire testing process was the fact that the 3G Cardio 80i Fold Flat Treadmill had the most accurate speed at 6mph and had the least amount of speed loss (loaded with a 270lbs person running at 6mph) of any treadmill we tested!!!  This was a huge surprise to us and we have sold it in-store for years.

Pros:  One of the best feeling treadmill deck suspensions on the market today.  Most accurate MPH and least amount of “speed loss” for any treadmill we tested.  Great for running.  Dual folding feature is very unique.  Warranty and customer service from 3G Cardio.

Cons: Less stable and very basic upper display.  Clunky program operations for any things other than a manual program.  Dual folding feature is nice but this is still a very heavy duty treadmill and not super easy to slide around (unless you use furniture slides)
