Customers have always asked us: “What are the best products in your store? How does your equipment stack up to what we found online?
WHAT’S THE BEST OF THE BEST?”
We recently had a Eureka moment! We decided to compile rankings for our products so that our customers can easily see which ones are the cream of the crop. We started with treadmills.
We put a lot of time and effort into making sure our rankings were comprehensive, accurate and unbiased. We spent $20,000 hiring seven independent researchers to review the leading brands objectively.
Leading brands that we carry were chosen for Big Guy Treadmill Reviews, such as Life Fitness, 3G Cardio, Peloton, Bowflex, Nordic Track, OMA and more.
Our lead reviewer is a big guy himself: 6-foot-4, 298-pound Big “Mike” Sullivan. Most review sites don’t take into account how a treadmill will hold up when used by someone of his size. Not all of us weigh under 200 pounds.
“Big Mike,” a former college athlete, put his own fitness to the test by running like he hasn’t in many years. He knows that no one likes walking or running on a treadmill that shakes or wobbles. “Big Mike” will tell you which machines are rated for users weighing up to 300 pounds and offer the smoothest, most sturdy ride.
In the end, it was a lot of work, but it was also fun and fascinating. We judge fitness equipment for a living, so we know immediately when we see something great, or terrible.
We reviewed a bunch of brands, some doing better than expected while others didn’t fare as well.
We created a comprehensive review site with tons of detailed information that other sites simply don’t have. We know it’s the stuff that fitness junkies really want to read about, too.
“I drank a lot of Diet Coke to get ready for this,” Sullivan joked. “Don’t try this at home!”
We conducted this experiment with the average person in mind, fully understanding that nobody would have time to do something like this themselves. We compiled all of our findings in order to assist you on your journey to finding the best treadmill.

TREADMILL RATING DISCLAIMER:
We are very particular about treadmills and tend to be snobby. There may important details in the treadmill’s specs and performance that might mean nothing to you, but everything to us.
With that said, please take our ratings with a grain of salt; we have conducted numerous tests on each model. Most of our testers weigh over 200 pounds, some even close to 300.
Treadmills have different weight capacities, so someone who weighs 300 will have a different experience than someone who only weighs 120. Find the stats that matter to you and make your decision based on that information.
Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We sell Life Fitness and 3G Cardio brands in our stores because we like them — a lot. In fact, we think they’re great enough to take up space on our retail floors! We’ve been fitness dealers for almost two decades now, so trust us when we say that we know a good brand when we see one.
We are not NASA scientists, but we accuracy tested each of the treadmills to the best of our abilities. We wanted to see how they stacked up against brands commonly found on Amazon – and were surprised by some of our findings. Keep in mind that while mistakes could have been made in our reviews, we did our level best as treadmill salespeople and service people.
