3G Cardio Elite RB X Recumbent Bike
$1,999
The 3G Cardio Elite RB X is BGTR’s #1-rated recumbent bike for seniors in 2025, scoring 94/100. Its adjustable mesh-back seat (which slides forward, back, and tilts), narrow 6.5″ pedal Q-factor, 350 lb weight capacity, and FreeSync FTMS Bluetooth with no monthly subscription make it the bike we recommend most often for adults managing arthritis or lower-back pain. At $1,999 it sits below the Life Fitness RS3 ($3,149) while delivering most of the same senior-critical features. For more on what we evaluate in senior recumbent bikes, see our 2025 Best Recumbent Bikes for Seniors roundup.
If you have read any other reviews about 3G Cardio, you probably have read about their high-quality products and customer service. 3G Cardio is a unique brand in the fitness industry. They are a much smaller company as compared to the likes of a Nordic Track or Pro Form, yet they smash the competition with their attention to detail. We have always rated the 3G Cardio brand highly and their recumbent bike is no different. The 3G Cardio Elite RB X Recumbent bike tops our list for overall excellence in the Recumbent Bike category of fitness equipment.
One of the biggest mysteries in the indoor recumbent bike world is “why are all recumbent bikes so damn big!!??” They do not need to be 6’ feet long and 3G Cardio proved it. Most recumbent bikes have a big flywheel (and “NO”, Flywheel weight does not matter!). This flywheel is always positioned between the pedals. This flywheel adds a significant amount of length to the bike and width between the pedals. Well, 3G solved this by simply reversing the common design by repositioning the flywheel under the seat. Brilliant! This shortened up the bike length (49” overall length) and solved another huge problem by reducing the Q Factor between the pedals to 6.5”! Two birds with one stone. And one of the best parts is that this bike will still comfortably fit someone from 5’ to 6.5’, which is better than most bikes tested.
Now there are a lot of high-quality aspects to this bike, but it of course comes at a cost. $1999 to be exact. There are other bikes that are of decent quality at a lower cost, so this is something to be aware of. So, the big question becomes, “is it worth the money?” Let’s find out.
QUICK + FEATURES: FTMS Bluetooth / Wireless HR Strap / Made in Taiwan / 7 Year Warranty
When it comes to shopping for an exercise bike, there are a few key factors that matter more than any others. Obviously, price and quality are a big deal, that goes without saying. But what are the other important factors when shopping for a recumbent bike? You must look at the overall adjustability and comfort of a bike, and that is where 3G Cardio really wallops the competitors. Their seat adjustability and comfort is amazing. Even for a big guy like me (298lbs). This bike is comfortable, flat out. The seat backrest is mesh so your back won’t get sweaty, it is also flexible, so it won’t dig into your side. The seat back also is adjustable which is awesome! You can slide the seat forward, back, tilt up and down and ultimately find a comfortable position. So, comfort is a huge plus!
Regarding quality, this bike is warrantied both for residential and commercial use, which is impressive. (Nordic Track has a “commercial” line of exercise equipment that is for residential use only – they call it “commercial” because it was featured in a TV commercial – yikes). The 3G Cardio Elite RB X Recumbent Bike is very well built and can handle quite a bit of use. The bike does not have any cheap feeling components, other than their power cord (see “Cons”). Nothing feels “plasticky”; if that is a word. The 3G Cardio Elite RB X recumbent bike is easy to move around (handle in the back, wheels in the front) and narrow enough to roll through a standard doorway. The bike has a max user weight rating of 350 lbs. Residential warranty: lifetime frame, 7 years parts, 1-year in-home labor. Commercial warranty: 3 years parts, 1 year labor (up to 4 hours daily use).
Some of the nitpicky complaints that we had about the bike is that it does not have full step thru design. It is a partial step thru measuring at 11”5 inches off the ground, which is higher than most of the other bikes we tested. We also were a bit confused by their weirdly cheap and somewhat short power cord. For such a high-end bike, why cheap out on a $3 power cord. Not sure on this one.
Pros: 3G Cardio has the “FreeSync™ connectivity with FTMS Bluetooth©” on most of their products now. Some other nice touches are the ratchet-style oversized pedals; adjustable feet supports, low height console, FTMS Bluetooth data exchange, small 49” footprint, with a residential warranty that includes lifetime frame, 7 years parts, and 1-year in-home labor. Very high overall quality and feel. Tops on our list.
Cons: One of the more expensive bikes we tested. Does not have a full “step-thru” design like most other bikes we tested. Weirdly short and kind of cheap feeling power cord.
Why the Elite RB X works for seniors with arthritis or back problems
Knee angle: 25–30° flex helps protect arthritic joints
When the Elite RB X seat is properly adjusted, your knees stay within roughly the 25–30° flex angle at full pedal extension — the same range that protects cartilage already affected by arthritis or years of wear. The narrow 6.5″ pedal Q-factor (the distance between the pedals) keeps your hips and knees vertically aligned; bikes with wider Q-factors force the knees to track outward, which adds rotational stress to the joint. For seniors managing osteoarthritis, this geometric detail meaningfully reduces day-to-day discomfort.
Lumbar support: adjustable mesh-back seat that slides, tilts, and breathes
The Elite RB X’s seat back is a flexible mesh that conforms to your lower back rather than digging into it. The seat slides forward and back, and the backrest tilts up and down — so seniors with chronic lower-back pain or herniated discs can find a neutral spine position and stay there for the full workout. The mesh material also doesn’t trap heat against your back the way solid-foam backrests do — a comfort detail that matters more than it sounds when you’re trying to build a 30-minute exercise habit.
Compact 49″ footprint fits smaller rooms
3G Cardio repositioned the flywheel under the seat — most recumbents put it between the pedals, which adds length. The result is a 49″ overall length that fits in smaller home gym corners or spare bedrooms where space is tight. The bike still accommodates users from 5′0″ to 6′5″, so it doesn’t sacrifice fit for compactness.
