Sole R92 Recumbent Bike

This is a nice bike for $999 (may be a higher price depending on the weekend sale Sole is running). We realize that our reviews can be very harsh and that we do not hold back from ripping products apart, but this is a solid product for the price point. Is it perfect? No, but for a sub $1000 bike we like it. This bike does the important things well. It has a small footprint, easy to step through, good range of resistance and is relatively comfortable. We also like that it is made in Taiwan and not China. Taiwan is known for its quality control and attention to detail. The Sole R92 Recumbent Bike earns one of our higher reviews.
Another nice feature is that this bike is easy to move. There is a grab handle at the back and wheels in the front for easy transport. While that may not be important to some, it makes it not only possible but also somewhat easy to roll around, say from room to room. Another great feature we have been highlighting with some other brands is FTMS Bluetooth and Sole does in fact use FTMS Bluetooth. FTMS Bluetooth is a built-in module that will allow your bike to send and receive data directly to / from a tablet or mobile device. You can download one of hundreds of fitness apps in Google Play Store or the Apple Marketplace and have a fully interactive experience. Your tablet will become your fully functional electronics display. That is very cool!
What would we like changed? We wished that the backrest was adjustable. Even though the seat is comfortable, it would be nice to be able to adjust and tilt the seat back. We also would like Sole to use larger pedals. These small pedals do not work well for someone with large feet. The other big complaint we all had while using the bike was the blocked line of site. The long and tall display is kind of in your face and can make you feel a little claustrophobic. If you don’t care about that and will be watching tv on your tablet then no big deal but if you want or need to be able to see over the screen, this could be a problem.
But hey, for $999 this bike really does rate well and we give it a thumbs up.
Pros: Small compact – $999 – Great price point. Nice step through design. FTMS Bluetooth is great, and you can “bring your own screen”. Comfortable seat. Easy to move around.
Cons: No adjustment for the seat back. Large / Tall upper display may block line of site. Small pedals may not work well for people with larger feet.
