The Sole R92 Recumbent Bike has been named the “Best Recumbent Bike Under $1,000” by the Big Guy Treadmill Review & Bikes team.
Made in Taiwan, the Sole R92 Recumbent Bike received a “Big Guy” score of 88 to rank third out of the seven leading exercise bikes we reviewed.
Our review team is unbiased and can sometimes be harsh, but that’s because we always give honest, unbiased opinions to help consumers make informed decisions. We are managers and sales associates in the fitness industry and also use specialty fitness equipment ourselves to stay in shape. Most of our review team members weigh over 200 pounds, a couple are closer to 300. We know what we like, what’s so-so and what we don’t like when it comes to exercise bikes and treadmills.
We can tell you the Sole R92 Recumbent Bike is a solid product for the price point. It’s not going to “wow” anyone, but if you’re trying to watch your budget this will get the job done and then some. The Sole R92 sells at a great price point. It has a nice step through design.
We love seeing machines that have FTMS Bluetooth capability because you can “bring your own screen” and avoid monthly subscription fees.
There are a few drawbacks to consider. Firstly, our reviewers encountered some challenges in adjusting the seat back, which may pose a difficulty for users. Additionally, a tall upper display could potentially obstruct the line of sight for some individuals. Furthermore, maneuvering around may prove to be cumbersome. Lastly, individuals with larger feet may find that the small pedals do not accommodate them well.
This bike earned positive marks for many of the basic functions we look for.

The Sole R92 Recumbent Bike has a small footprint, it’s easy to step through, has a good range of resistance and is relatively comfortable. We need to point out that that the Sole r92 Recumbent Bike is manufactured in Taiwan rather than China. Taiwan is respected for its strict quality control and attention to detail. Consequently, the Sole R92 Recumbent Bike received one of our more favorable reviews.
One of the great features of this bike is its easy maneuverability. It features a convenient grab handle at the back and front wheels, allowing for effortless transportation. While this may not be a top priority for everyone, it definitely adds a touch of convenience, making it a breeze to roll around from room to room.
We’ve been shining a spotlight on an excellent feature that sets some treadmills and exercise bikes apart: FTMS Bluetooth.
Sole not only uses FTMS Bluetooth, but has taken it to the next level! This built-in module enables your bike to seamlessly communicate with a tablet or mobile device, effortlessly exchanging data back and forth. Get ready to elevate your cycling experience like never before! You can download one of hundreds of fitness apps in Google Play Store or the Apple Marketplace and have a fully interactive experience. Your tablet will become your fully functional electronics display. That is very cool!
What would we like changed?
We wished that the backrest was adjustable. Even though the seat is comfortable, it would be nice to be able to adjust and tilt the seat back. We also would like Sole to use larger pedals. These small pedals do not work well for someone with large feet.
The other big complaint we all had while using the bike was the blocked line of site. The long and tall display is kind of in your face and can make you feel a little claustrophobic. If you don’t care about that and will be watching TV on your tablet then no big deal but if you want or need to be able to see over the screen, this could be a problem.
But overall, for $999 this bike really does rate well and we give it a thumbs up.
